DEEPSEA Engineering Australia has an immediate requirement for an Engineering Manager

DEEPSEA is a rapidly expanding subsea engineering contractor specializing in complex deep-water projects. We are headquartered in the UK, with engineering resource centers presently in London, Houston, Aberdeen, Bangkok and Perth. We are looking to recruit exceptional individuals to lead teams of Engineers in our offices throughout the world.

Outline of the role

To ensure that customer communication channels and interfaces are established as appropriate, that customers’ technical objectives and requirements are clear and unambiguous, and that Deapsea meets customer-defined technical objectives, requirements, milestones, and schedules.

To ensure the continued effectiveness of all reportees through written and verbal communication, other feedback mechanisms, training, self-development, reviews and appraisals.

Key tasks – Operational and Commercial

  • To ensure that customer needs and expectations are determined and fulfilled.
  • To monitor customer satisfaction and work to improve customer care standards.
  • To produce reports in an agreed format.
  • To assist with the recruitment of staff.
  • To undertake regular reviews of team performance.
  • To contribute to the development of appropriate business strategies.
  • To monitor and manage costs in accordance with agreed budgets.
  • To assist with the development of annual budgets.

Key tasks – Employee Interface

  • To manage and support the Engineering team.
  • To work in close co-operation with the R&D Manager and Project Manager.
  • To develop and sustain relationships with other Deepsea technical teams including assistance when required and the sharing of relevant information.
  • To communicate throughout the Engineering team the importance of meeting customer needs and legal requirements.
  • To ensure the availability of resources necessary to meet the Organisation’s and customers’ requirements.
  • To assist the Human Resources Manager in undertaking individual performance reviews.
  • To assist the Human Resoiurces Manager in implementing individual employee objectives, training and development plans.

Key tasks – Quality Management

  • To assist the Quality Manager in establishing Quality Policies and their objectives.
  • To attend Management Review Meetings to determine the effectiveness of DeepSea’s all Quality Systems an ensure action items resulting from management's review of Quality System performance are implemented within established time frames
  • To implement corrective or preventive actions to preclude recurrence of process, product, or Quality System non-conformances.
  • To verify the effective implementation of corrective or preventive actions and to develop solutions to such process, product, or Quality System problems.
  • To ensure that team members of each program, project, product, or contract undertake quality planning in accordance with the DeepSea Quality Manual and implementation documents.
  • To ensure documented procedures define the responsibility, provide the necessary authority, and describe the relationship of all personnel who manage, perform, or verify work that affects quality.
  • To ensure all work governed by the Quality System is conducted in accordance with documented policies, plans, procedures, and work instructions.
  • To identify resource requirements and provide adequate resources, including the assignment of trained personnel to manage, perform, verify, and internally audit work that affects the quality of the final product.
  • To identify methods for tracking external documents and data which are used to control and define the processes that affect the quality of the final product

  • To achieve agreed financial and operational performance objectives.
  • To attend Client premises as requested by the Directors of DeepSea Engineering.
  • To attend conferences as requested by the Directors of DeepSea Engineering.
  • To present papers/presentations as requested by the Directors of DeepSea Engineering.
  • To accompany the Directors of DeepSea Engineering on client visits as requested.
  • To be available to work in any other DeepSea offices as reasonably requested by the Directors of DeepSea Engineering.
